I guess I'm not very good at this blogging thing yet... it's almost been an entire month since my last post. Oh, how time flies. But to my credit, February only has 28 days, so saying an entire month doesn't seem fair. My bad.
So here's the deal: I graduate from BYU in April and then I have to start real life. So at this point, I am trying to do what I can to figure out how that real life is going to go. The Advertising program at BYU is great. There are a lot of students in the program, but we still have teachers that are trying to help us all out to find internships. The teachers have a lot of connections with the best Advertising agencies everywhere, but especially in New York City and Chicago. Every year, they go out to these cities and hook up a bunch of the students with Spring and Summer internships. Most of them are unpaid, put provide the best experience you can get. Last year, I went to New York City and it was really great. I still don't know what's going to happen this year, but I hope to find something soon.
We had the creative recruiter from Leo Burnett in Chicago come and visit our campus on Thursday. We have known that he was coming for quite a while, so I have been working on my portfolio for a long, long time in order to have it somewhat finished when he came. He was a really nice guy and sat down with me for a few minutes while he went through my book. He gave me great comments on how to improve and told me he will definitely consider me for an internship. That sounds positive if you look at it positively, but it also sounds negative if you look at it negatively. I'll pretend I'm neutral so I don't get my hopes up or get depressed.
For now, I've got a few other leads I will pursue, but if I don't blog again for a while, hopefully it's not because I'm homeless...
